On April 24, 2025, the Institute of International Relations and the Graduate Institute of East Asian Studies (hereafter referred to as “the IIR” and “the GIEAS,” respectively) jointly hosted a special lecture featuring Professor Quansheng Zhao (趙全勝), Chair of the Asia Research Council and Professor at the School of International Service, American University. The talk, delivered in Chinese and titled “Trump 2.0 and U.S.-China Strategic Rivalry”(「川普2.0 與中美博弈」), explored the implications of a potential second Trump administration for the evolving geopolitical competition between the United States and China.
Professor Zhao, a prominent scholar in comparative politics and international relations, is also a long-time research associate at Harvard University's Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and has served as a visiting professor at several leading universities around the world. The event was moderated by Professor Hsin-hsien Wang (王信賢), Distinguished Professor at the GIEAS and Director of the IIR.
Among the attendees were the IIR Deputy Director Titus chen (陳至潔), the IIR Associate Research Fellow anne hsiu-an hsiao (蕭琇安), the IIR Adjunct Research Fellow Shao-Cheng Tang (湯紹成), Associate Professor Tadahiro Ishihara (石原忠浩 ) of the Japanese Studies Program, and Assistant Professor Wen-Ting Yang(楊雯婷) . The talk drew an enthusiastic audience of over 70 participants, including faculty and students from various departments, visiting scholars in Taiwan, international think tank researchers, and several media representatives.
