[Reminder from the Office of Research and Development] The internal deadline for submission of applications for the "National Science and Technology Council 114th Year Incentive Program for PhD Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences to Write Doctoral Dissertations" is 5:00 PM on March 25, 2025 (Monday). To avoid network congestion and ensure the smooth processing of applications, please complete your project application as early as possible through the National Science and Technology Council's "Academic Research and Development Service Network" online system!

 

National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) "114th Year Incentive Program for PhD Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences to Write Doctoral Dissertations"

[Internal Deadline] March 25, 2025 (Monday) by 5:00 PM

(To avoid network congestion or unforeseen circumstances, applicants and their advisors must complete the online application before the deadline.)

[Eligibility]

(1) Students: (According to NSTC guidelines, those who are expected to graduate before July 31, 2025, should not apply.)

  1. Full-time PhD students enrolled in graduate programs in the humanities and social sciences at universities and colleges approved by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, who have obtained doctoral candidate status before the application deadline and have certification from their department.

  2. Applicants must have the commitment from their advisor to supervise their research and must demonstrate excellent academic performance.

  3. The research topic of the applicant's doctoral dissertation must fall within the humanities and social sciences field.

  4. In accordance with Article 14, Section 3 of the "Regulations for Mainland Chinese Students Studying in Taiwan," central government agencies and their affiliated organizations cannot allocate budgets or provide scholarships to students from mainland China. Therefore, NSTC cannot accept applications from mainland Chinese students. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

(2) Advisors: Must meet the qualification requirements for academic advisors at the applicant's university and department and be willing to supervise the doctoral student's research work.

[Award Period] From August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026

[Award Amount] Each recipient will receive a monthly award of NT$40,000, totaling NT$480,000 for the duration of the program.
