Topic: The Tibetan Issue Under the Network of International Interests: The Realities and Historical Trends of Tibet

Speaker: Dr. Gyal Lo 嘉洛 (NGO Tibet Action Institute)

Lecture Introduction: Dr. Gyal Lo, a Tibetan scholar, is an internationally renowned expert on Tibetan education and social issues. He has taught for over a decade at the Department of Tibetan Language, Northwest Minzu University. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Sociology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. His book The Social Structure of Tibetan Society serves as a primary resource for understanding contemporary Tibetan society. He has conducted in-depth research and criticism on Tibetan bilingual education, boarding schools, and assimilation policies. Currently residing in Canada, Dr. Gyal Lo works at the international NGO Tibet Action Institute and regularly serves as a visiting professor at the Tibetan exile university. His understanding of the difficult situation of the Tibetan people amid global power dynamics is deeply personal. This lecture will address both historical development and contemporary issues. Students and faculty with an interest in Tibetan Buddhism, Sino-Indian-Tibetan relations, ethnic minority education, and international NGO advocacy are warmly invited to attend.
